When applied to health, biotechnology is offering ever more spectacular possibilities, as shown in the results of a new study called “N-Phenacylthiazolium Bromide Reduces Bone Fragility Induced by Nonenzymatic Glycation” carried out by biomedical engineers at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy (USA) and recently published in the scientific journal PLOS ONE.The results of this study show that N-phenacylthiazolium bromide, or PTB, can dissolve impurities within bone tissue that cause the femur and other major bones in the body to become more fragile, so significantly increasing the risk of bone fractures.
